Effective date: 2 July 2026App ID: com.quickmote.tvremote
The short version
QuickMote controls your TV over your own Wi-Fi network. Your remote button presses and
TV control traffic stay on your local network — we don't send them to our servers
(we don't run any). We use Google's Firebase for anonymous analytics, crash reports, and
performance, and Google Play for purchases. Voice audio is streamed live to your TV and
is not stored by us. We show no ads and we never sell your data.
This policy explains what information the QuickMote app (“QuickMote”,
“we”, “the app”) collects, why, and your choices. We wrote it to be
honest and specific to what the app actually does.
1Information we collect
a. Information you provide
Purchases. If you buy a subscription or lifetime plan, the transaction is
processed by Google Play Billing. We receive purchase status (e.g. active /
expired) but never your full card details.
Feedback. If you send feedback, the app opens your own email app (Gmail)
pre-filled with your message. You choose to send it; it comes from your email address.
b. Information collected automatically
Analytics, crash, and performance data via Firebase Analytics, Firebase
Crashlytics, and Firebase Performance Monitoring — e.g. app events, screen views,
device model, OS version, app version, crash stack traces, and performance traces.
This helps us fix bugs and improve the app.
Remote Config values are fetched from Firebase to toggle features.
c. Information stored only on your device
Saved TVs. TV names, IP addresses, device identifiers, your chosen profile
names, and remote-mode preferences are stored in local app storage on your device so
the app can reconnect and switch between TVs. This is not uploaded to us.
App preferences (language, selected remote mode, pro status).
d. Microphone / voice
🎙️
When you use voice input, the app records audio from your microphone only
while you hold/use the voice button and streams it directly to your TV so the
TV's own assistant can act on it. QuickMote does not store your voice recordings
and does not send them to our servers.
2Permissions and why we need them
Permission
Purpose
Internet
Firebase services, Google Play Billing, TV SDK communication
Local network access
Discover and connect to TVs on your Wi-Fi (Android 13+)
Wi-Fi / network state
Detect connectivity for discovery
Wi-Fi multicast
Discover TVs via SSDP / Zeroconf
Microphone
Voice input, streamed live to your TV; not stored
Vibrate
Button haptic feedback
You can revoke permissions any time in Android Settings. Revoking microphone disables
voice; revoking network / local-network access disables TV discovery and control.
3How we use information
Operate the core function: discover, pair with, and control your TVs.
Remember your TVs and preferences so you can switch between them.
Diagnose crashes and improve performance and features.
Process and restore purchases.
Understand aggregate, anonymous usage to prioritize improvements.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for third-party
advertising. The app currently shows no ads.
Future advertising. If we introduce advertising in a future update, we will
update this policy first to disclose the ad partners and the data involved
(e.g. advertising ID), and we will request consent where required (e.g. EEA / UK).
4Sharing and third parties
We don't run our own servers. The third parties that process data on our behalf:
Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance, Remote Config) — see
Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Play Billing — for purchases and subscription status.
Your TV control traffic and voice audio go directly between your phone and your TV
over your local network, not through us.
We may disclose information if required by law.
5Data retention
On-device data (saved TVs, preferences) stays until you delete a TV in
Settings → Saved TVs, clear app data, or uninstall.
Firebase analytics / crash data is retained per Google Firebase's default
retention settings.
Voice audio is not retained by us at all.
6Children's privacy
QuickMote is a utility app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly
collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us
information, contact us and we will remove it.
7Your choices and rights
Microphone: revoke anytime to disable voice.
Analytics: you can limit ad / analytics identifiers in Android Settings.
Delete data: remove saved TVs in-app, or clear app data / uninstall to remove
on-device data.
Purchases: manage or cancel subscriptions in Google Play.
Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR / CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or
delete your data; contact us to exercise them.
8Security
We rely on Android's app sandbox and Google's secured services (Firebase, Play Billing).
Local control traffic stays on your Wi-Fi network. No system is perfectly secure, but we
limit what we collect and avoid running our own data stores.
9Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll update the “Effective
date” above and, for material changes, surface a notice in the app or store
listing.
